Who Is This Guy?

Toronto-based standup comic Danish Anwar takes hyphenated introductions to a whole new level.

Born and raised in Moscow towards the end of the Cold war, he’s likely the world’s first and only Soviet-Born-Second-City-Trained-Indian-Bengali-Canadian-Comic.

He’s also the creator of Dope Diplomacy, a webcomic where Marc Emery aka The Prince of Pot is the Prime Minister of Canada. Yeah, you read that right.

Standup Highlights:

He has been nominated for the Tim Sims Encouragement Award 2012, an annual celebration of the most promising new comedians in Toronto. And because he’s a credit-whore, he’s also nominated for The Funniest Torontonian award (2012), with a chance to open for Louis CK at JFL Toronto 2012. He was also a finalist in the 2011 Toronto Comedy Brawl.  Click here for upcoming gigs.
